Study of the Mass using Scripture
What is this study about and why?
In Advent of 2011, the Church in America will start using the newly approved translation of the Mass. In our study, we will use this corrected translation to examine more deeply the Mass, such as how the Mass is connected to the Bible.
When and Where is it going to be held?
The entire study takes five weeks. We will start mid-May in the Fireside Room of the Parish Center. Each class runs approximately ninety minutes. It does involve making time during those weeks to read the workbook and read from the Bible. To get the most out of this, you should be willing to invest some time and yourself in this process. Our God is a loving and providing Father who will reward us for our efforts to know Him better.
The meetings for the study will be held on Sunday’s and Thursday’s. The content for each meeting will be the same, so you will not need to attend both days; however, the discussions may differ considerably as the group will direct what we will talk about. Some may find it rewarding to come to both meetings, but it is not necessary.
We will meet on Sundays from 11am to 12:30pm starting on May 15, 2011. That same week on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm we will talk about the same portion of the work book. Each week we will meet at the same times until the study concludes on Sunday, June 12th and Thursday, June 16th. Remember if Sunday’s work best for you but you are out of town one weekend you can come on the next Thursday and cover the same material.Who can come and How much does it cost?
Anyone is welcome to attend. You do not need to be Catholic, you don't even need to attend Mass. If you are curious about why we worship the way we do in the Catholic Church this class should help answer your questions. If you attend Mass and you want to get more out of it or if you want to know why the corrected translation is needed come and join us.
Cost: $25 per person to cover supplies.
If you cannot afford to pay let us know and we will work it out. If anyone is interested in donating to help cover the cost of others please let us know.
